Today was awesome and another giveaway, no joke!

Today has been a fabulous April Fools.  Well except that my lungs and legs played quite the practical joke on me.  But more on that later.  Woke up, picked my final winner for my raffle (check the post right before this more details), grabbed a banana, Nathan handheld, new running shoes, and Gracie of course and headed out to meet my friend Lindsay for a run.  Lindsay was my TNT mentor for my first TNT event (and an awesome one at that!) and we quickly discovered that she’s a recent Education Graduate from the college I go to.  So it was really cool having someone to ask my teaching questions to =) She was also the one who first introduced me to Bondi Bands =) She was actually planning on giving her coworker and her daughter a tour of the college in the afternoon so we met up at the school a little earlier for 6 miles.  She mapped out an awesome route for us and after some stretching (and strapping on my ITB strap) we were off.

I knew from the beginning that Lindsay’s pace was a bit faster than mine but I was excited for the challenge.  Our route has some pretty good hills and unfortunately they got the best of me.  My Asthma and allergies started to pull their own little April’s Fool’s prank on me and my lungs started closing up.  Great.  It’s a beautiful day, my energy is great, my motivation is great, lungs not to much.  After one hill I had to chill for a minute.  I couldn’t get in a full breath and it was getting the best of me.  When I’m running (and its not speed work) and I can no longer talk at all, I know I need to take a step back.  I had to slow down substantially and told Lindsay to go on ahead.  I HATE holding people back.  I don’t mind running with friends who may have a slower pace than me at all, but I hate feeling like I’m holding someone back.  But she insisted on staying with me and was so awesome about it.  We talked about school and teaching and of course TNT and running.  My breathing started to become more regular and I thought we could pick it up again.  False.  Got another mile or so before I had to slow it down and catch my breath again.  I really wanted to throw in the towel cuz I was so frustrated but thanks to Lindsay I made it through the 6.27 miles.  She reminded me that sometimes when your body doesn’t agree, its really just about getting the mileage done and not the pace that matters.  So true!  Thanks Lindsay!  Sorry for holding you back but hopefully our next run will be more sucessfull!   And toward the end of the run, my RIGHT KNEE started bugging me the same way my left one was.  WHAT GIVES.  Okay body, no more jokes today.  You had your fun.

totally looked like this dude

Since we are on break today-Monday (I go to a Jesuit school so we get quite the Easter Break) I decided to head over to Princess Peanut and Pumpkin Head Bugga Boo (my godkids)’s house and play outside with them.  We had a ton of fun, Bug’s trying soo hard to walk.  And he learned to clap and well…spit.  It’s so funny and he cracks himself up.  Here’s a video of Bug and Peanut at the tattoo place last week (yep, we took the babies for the tattoo salon)

Aren’t they the cutest =)  Once I got home I had a wonderful surprise in the mail.  The Lovely, Wonderful, Amazing, Beautiful, Generous (okay you get it) running skirts twins sent me this wonderful “review kit” with their awesome stuff to try out and review!  Check for that soon!

Awesome Fuscia Polka Dot Skirt from their new summer line!

  1. Oh & FatherRunner wants to know where BF plays football? (saw the picture looking over my shoulder & tried to guess – men!)

  2. I did something nice for my husband last week – but it actually happened today. Does that count?
He’s been talking about running a fall marathon but hasn’t been doing much running at all (I think he ran three times over the winter). I signed him up for a Good Friday race so that he could just get out there and do it. Now he’s planning for a few more spring events and starting to look at bigger things – like a marathon. Let’s hope we can keep his momentum up. Perhaps if I bought him a RunningSkirt (but in my size, of course; he wouldn’t).

  3. My good deed is that we invited a family to join our Passover Seder dinner because they want to start the tradition with their family but didn’t know what or how to do it.
