  1. No embarrassing disasters, but definitely a disaster *for* my feet. When Colin and I were first dating he took me on a hike (I was not outdoorsy then). It was 32km/20mi in 8 hours and I wore my Nike runners. Yeah, bloody feet are so the way to attract the boys… Surprisingly he just thought I was cute for going and I didn’t hate him for the experience! :)

  2. this is a shoe, snow and ice mishap. My husband was on a business trip and would not be home until late. I was baking banana bread and went outside to bring our flag in. When I went to step back onto the steps, the snow made it difficult to see where the edge of the step was. I did not get completely on step and slipped and feel face first onto the concrete. I hit hard enough that the concrete chipped my glasses and I had to replace the lenses. I also ended up with 2 very black and swollen eyes. I had to call my sister to come and take me to emergency room so that I could have stitches. Before I called here I went into garage to find rag to hold on my head as I did not want to bleed on my floor in the house and I turned off the oven so as not to burn banana bread, while we were at emergeny room. When I got to emergency room they had to call my dentist to come and get them some medication to numb by forehead before they did stitches as I am allergic to novacaine and they did not have any thing else.

I had quite a story to tell my husband when he got home.

  3. I like the black ones and actually want to enter for my son! He has to wear braces on his feet which are a pain to put on by the time I put them on I dont feel like tying the shoes.. I think these would be cool.

  4. a shoe disaster? What could be worse than showing up to a group run in my house “scuffs”? No, I don’t think there’s anything worse than showing up for a 5am run in a pair of slip on shoes… I slipped them on, ran out to the car to get something, and then “I had comfortable shoes on my feet” and I was too tired/distracted to notice that they weren’t running shoes. Learned a valuable lesson that day – never change your routine at 5am.

  5. Once when I was running I somehow managed to trip and ended up scraping my face against concrete. And also my leg and arm. :( It was awful. I had a nasty scrape on my face

  6. I already use these in my “real” running shoes, but my local running store doesn’t have all of these colors! I’d love a purple set for my running-around-town shoes. Tying shoes is so over-rated!

  7. Not so much a disaster, but only because it didn’t happen to me in a race. After having to stop 2 regular runs to tie shoes, I discovered Lock Laces and have never looked back.

  8. Shoe story….hmmm…I honestly can’t think of one right now–but I can tell you that my daughter has recently worn through the toes of TWO pairs of shoes because she drags them to stop while riding her coaster car. Like–completely worn through to the sock. I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw sparks fly up when she screeches to a halt with her toes.

  9. I wish that I had some crazy shoe story to tell, but I don’t. I have been known to tie my laces to tight which has lead to some foot issues.

  10. Just liked Lock Laces on Facebook too! (My newsfeed is filling up with soooo many running-related product posts it’s crazy!) Let’s hope my good luck works with these :)

  11. I found a great pair of high-heeled boots once. Because of my “athletic” calves and tiny feet, finding knee-high boots that fit me is practically impossible. So when I finally found a pair, I wore them every where. The time this hottness backfired on me was when I was coming down the stairs of my apartment. For some reason I stepped down with my heel instead of my forefoot. With perfect precision I placed it right on the edge of a stair about 5 steps from the bottom with nothing but air under my toes. Gravity took over….I straddle stepped/jumped down the rest of them…..slipped on ice because it was March…..and biffed it into a snowbank.
